Comments: [Re: Federico Monti - new ep on Homophoni]
Without a doubt Federico Monti is one of the true masters of creating experimental music within the realm of what is now termed the “microsound aesthetic” - very small sounds digitally sculptured into something aurally pleasing and satisfying. This near 22-minute beautiful exploration of tiny sounds on netlabel Homophoni is further evidence in support of this remark. “Música en Minúsculas ”rather than being one extended composition seems to be a collection of several individual excursions into minimal experimentations with low and high frequencies. The sounds found within are delicacies for the ears - quiet, restrained, and satisfying - and headphones are necessary to fully appreciate the fine sounds. As you listen to this piece, you will be rewarded with varied moments of rough, low-frequency rumblings, minuscule scrapes of glitch, sharp, high pitched frequencies, and beautiful episodes of soothing, transparent tonal drones.
